The ICA Certified ToP® Facilitator Program

MNToP

ToP® facilitators & consultants are expertly trained and experienced in designing and delivering facilitation services to groups that want to accomplish necessary change in a personalized, timely and cost effective manner.

The Technology of Participation provides a participatory structure that keeps the group's work on task while not restricting the creative participation of all involved. Members of a planning or work group frequently comment, "I can't believe we accomplished all this work in this amount of time."

What does it mean and who can become a Certified ToP® Facilitator?

The ToP® Facilitator Certification Program is an international evidence-based process to assess a facilitator's level of mastery of ToP  Facilitator Competencies. The CTF credential is given to facilitators who have demonstrated their proficiency at a "master level."

A Guide is available to help facilitators prepare to be certified as a ToP Facilitator by ICA USA. The Guide contains information on all aspects of the certification process: Competencies Overview, The ToP Facilitator Certification Process, Preparing your ToP Facilitator Portfolio, ToP Facilitator Competencies Checklist, Facilitation Event Reflection Worksheet, The Application for ToP Facilitator Certification.

MNToP is proud to b represented by 16 CTF facilitators listed in the sidebar.  As well, at the moment an additional 10 ToP facilitators are working towards CTF assessment, many of them as participants in the current Mastery in the Technology of Participation program, the year-long intensive that serves as a support for CTF candidates.

What are the facilitation competencies that CTF candidates develop?

·         Manage Positive Client Relationships
·         Create a Participatory Environment
·         Evoke the Creativity of the Group
·         Use ToP Methods Effectively
·         Model Positive Professional Attitude
·         Orchestrate Quality Events
·         Produce Effective Results

Certification Story:

CTF candidate Carolyn Evans recently facilitated an exciting ToP Action Plan process with  ‘Connections to Independence’ (CTI), where the  Board, Staff and Students spent  4 hours indoors on a beautiful Saturday morning to address questions in ToP’s participatory disciplined framework, that had been popping up in agendas for months.

Carolyn as the CTF candidate was observed in her process,  was able to use this opportunity to deepen her experience and build her Certification Assessment Portfolio.   Connections to Independence now has 4 strong action teams with a detailed 6 month plan that all agree to, understand, and are ready to support!

Call us about the credential, the credentialing process, or the Guide, or if you need help finding a Certified ToP® Facilitator for one of your projects.  We are excited about this certification!  The international conversation that gave birth to this 5 years ago has brought us all to into a unified exploration of ‘excellence’ in participatory facilitation.  As well, our understanding continues to grow, the learning does not stop.
